Why a telehandler?
Telehandlers are commonly seen on construction sites and in agriculture work. The reach of the telehandler can also come in handy in material handling duties like unloading stacked truck trailers. Some models are also equippable with lift baskets and other attachments that allow telehandlers to perform specialized tasks. The basic equipment usually includes a standard bucket and lift forks.
Actual lift capacity
As with choosing a forklift truck, determining the weight of the loads should be a priority. The rated lift capacity alone may not be sufficient as a selection criterion. The following lift capacity table describes the actual lift capacity of a telehandler with a rated lift capacity of 4000 kg with a 500 mm load center. As you can see from the diagram, the actual lift capacity is decreased in relation to the lifting angle and boom reach.
In this example, at maximum reach, the actual lift capacity is only 300 kg. For example, if the weight of the load to be handled is 4000 kg and you want to lift it high or reach it out far, you will need a telehandler with a significantly higher rated lift capacity.
